Possible Causes
Failed fan motor, Obstructed fan blade, Faulty fan capacitor, Loose wiring to fan relay or motor
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Turn off power at the breaker. The fan can start unexpectedly; never work near the blade with power on.
- Inspect fan area: Remove the top grille and check for sticks, leaves, or other debris preventing the fan from turning. Clear obstructions.
- Spin test: With power off, gently spin the fan blade by hand. It should rotate freely without grinding. Stiffness indicates motor bearing failure.
- Check capacitor: Locate the fan capacitor in the electrical compartment. Look for bulging or leaking. Replace with the exact microfarad rating specified by AquaCal if defective.
- Verify wiring: Ensure all fan motor leads are securely connected to the contactor/relay and capacitor.
- Replace fan motor: If the motor hums but will not start, or is seized, replace the fan motor with an AquaCal‑approved replacement.
