Possible Causes
Loose power lugs at contactor or terminal block, Undersized supply wiring causing voltage drop, Faulty circuit breaker or disconnect, Intermittent power relay on control board
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Turn off power at the main breaker and lock it out if possible. Use a multimeter only if you are trained and comfortable working with high voltage.
- Inspect power connections: Remove the electrical access cover on the AquaCal unit. Check that all line and load wires are tight on the terminal block and contactor.
- Check for overheating: Look for discoloration, melted insulation, or burnt smells around terminals, which indicate poor connections.
- Verify breaker size: Confirm the circuit breaker and wire gauge match AquaCal's installation specifications for your model.
- Test voltage: With power restored and using proper PPE, measure line voltage at the unit while the heater is running. If voltage is significantly below nameplate rating, consult an electrician.
- Control board/relay: If supply power is stable but PF persists, the internal power relay or control board may be failing and should be replaced by an AquaCal service technician.
