How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Turn off power and gas before servicing.
- Clean flame sensor: Remove the flame sensor and gently clean the rod with fine abrasive pad. Reinstall ensuring it is fully in the burner flame path.
- Check grounding: Tighten all ground screws between the burner tray, chassis, and control board. Remove rust under ground lugs if necessary.
- Inspect burner flame: After reassembly, observe the flame through the sight glass. It should be blue and stable, not lifting or blowing off the burner.
If F5 persists, the ignition control module may not be reading the flame signal correctly and may need replacement.
