Possible Causes
Bypass valve routing most water around heater, Incorrect plumbing causing short-circuit of flow, Internal heat exchanger blockage, Refrigerant circuit failure
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Turn off power and pump before adjusting valves.
- Check bypass settings: If a bypass is installed, adjust valves so that a significant portion of flow passes through the heater as per BWT recommendations.
- Verify plumbing direction: Ensure inlet and outlet connections are not reversed.
- Feel inlet and outlet pipes: With the heater running, the outlet pipe should feel warmer than the inlet. If both are the same temperature, heat transfer may not be occurring.
If plumbing is correct and there is still no temperature rise, a technician should check the heat exchanger and refrigerant system.
