Possible Causes
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Turn off power and stop the circulation pump before working on plumbing.
- Identify source: Dry the area and observe where water first appears. Distinguish between clear condensate dripping from coil and continuous water from plumbing joints.
- Check unions and fittings: Tighten union nuts at the heater inlet and outlet by hand, then slightly with a wrench if needed. Do not overtighten plastic fittings.
- Inspect for cracks: Look for visible cracks in PVC elbows or couplings near the heater. Replace any damaged fittings.
- Condensate vs leak: In humid conditions, significant condensate can form on the coil and drip. Ensure the condensate drainage path is clear so water exits properly.
If water appears to be coming from inside the heater cabinet or from the heat exchanger body, an internal leak is likely and the titanium heat exchanger may need replacement by a technician.
