Possible Causes

Loose ribbon cable between display and main PCB, Moisture ingress into Certikin control panel, Failed keypad membrane, Faulty display PCB

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety first: Isolate power before removing the front control panel.

  • Dry the panel: If condensation or water is visible on or behind the display, gently dry the area with a soft cloth. Do not use heat guns.
  • Check ribbon cable: Carefully unplug and re-plug the ribbon cable between the display and main PCB, ensuring it is fully seated and not twisted.
  • Inspect for damage: Look for cracks in the keypad membrane or signs of corrosion on the display board.
  • Reassemble and test: Restore power and check if the E1 code clears and buttons respond normally.

Persistent E1 faults usually require replacement of the Certikin display/keypad assembly or main PCB.
