Possible Causes
Failed Elecro NTC temperature probe, Broken or shorted sensor cable, Corroded sensor connector on control PCB, Sensor not fully immersed in water stream
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Isolate electrical power before removing covers or touching wiring.
- Visual inspection: Locate the Elecro water temperature sensor (NTC probe) on the heater manifold or in the flow tube. Check that it is fully inserted and secured.
- Check cable and plug: Follow the sensor cable to the control PCB. Look for cuts, abrasions, or rodent damage. Ensure the connector is firmly seated and free of corrosion.
- Basic resistance test (for competent users): With power off and sensor disconnected, measure resistance across the NTC sensor with a multimeter. Compare to Elecro’s temperature/resistance chart. An open circuit or zero ohms indicates a failed sensor.
- Clean contacts: If mild corrosion is present on the plug, clean with electrical contact cleaner and reconnect.
If the sensor is out of specification or physically damaged, replace it with the correct Elecro NTC temperature sensor for your model.
