Possible Causes
Ambient temperature sensor reading below safe limit, Faulty frost sensor on Elecro unit, Control parameters set for anti-freeze mode, Sensor cable damaged or shorted
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Ensure the heater and pipework are protected from freezing; do not allow stagnant water to freeze inside the heater.
- Check ambient conditions: Confirm actual air temperature around the heater. If extremely low, follow Elecro’s winterization procedure instead of forcing operation.
- Inspect frost sensor: Locate the ambient/frost sensor (if fitted) on the control panel or chassis. Check for damage or dislodging.
- Check wiring: Inspect the sensor cable for cuts or crushed sections that could cause false low readings.
- Parameter review: In the installer menu, verify frost protection settings are appropriate for your climate and application.
If E12 appears in normal temperatures, the frost sensor is likely faulty and should be replaced.
