Possible Causes
Open high limit thermostat, Open flow switch contact, Tripped manual safety cut-out, Loose safety loop wiring on control PCB
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Do not bypass safety devices to clear this error. Identify and correct the root cause.
- Check high limit reset: Locate any manual reset buttons on the heater body and press firmly after the unit has cooled.
- Verify flow switch: Confirm the flow switch is closing when the pump runs (use a multimeter on continuity across the switch terminals).
- Inspect safety wiring: Trace the low-voltage safety loop wiring between flow switch, high limit, and PCB. Tighten any loose spade connectors or terminal screws.
- Look for corrosion: Clean any oxidized terminals with contact cleaner.
If all safety devices test correctly closed and wiring is intact, the control PCB’s safety input circuit may be faulty.
