Possible Causes
Unresolved underlying error (flow, overheat, sensor), Control PCB safety lockout logic triggered, Power interruptions during startup, Incorrect reset procedure
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Do not repeatedly reset without diagnosing the original cause; this can damage the heater.
- Review history: Note any previous error codes that appeared before E16. Address those root causes first (e.g., E01 flow, E02 overheat).
- Full power reset: Turn off power at the isolator for at least 5 minutes to allow the control to fully discharge. Restore power and observe startup.
- Check for active faults: Ensure adequate flow, correct temperature, and no visible leaks or wiring issues before attempting reset.
- Follow manual reset steps: Some Elecro models require a specific button sequence to clear lockout; refer to the user or installer manual.
If E16 returns immediately, the control PCB may be faulty or another safety device is still open.
