Possible Causes
Aging or loose Elecro power contactor, Vibrating control transformer laminations, Low supply voltage causing contactor chatter, Mounting screws loosened over time
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Isolate power before tightening or replacing electrical components.
- Locate noise source: With the cover removed (and under safe, supervised conditions), briefly energize the unit to identify whether the hum comes from the contactor or transformer.
- Tighten mounting: Turn power off and tighten mounting screws on the contactor and transformer to reduce vibration.
- Check supply voltage: Have an electrician verify that voltage is within Elecro’s specified range.
- Replace noisy component: If the contactor or transformer continues to buzz loudly, replace it with the correct Elecro-specified part.
Mild hum can be normal, but loud or worsening noise should be investigated.
