Possible Causes
Broken internal limit switch in Fafco actuator, Misaligned actuator on valve stem, Incorrect cam settings inside actuator, Wrong actuator model for valve type
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Turn off power to the actuator before removing covers or adjusting cams.
- Mark current position: Note the valve handle position relative to flow direction before removing the actuator.
- Remove actuator: Take off the actuator and inspect the underside for proper engagement with the valve stem.
- Check cams and switches: Open the actuator housing and verify that the adjustable cams are correctly set to stop at 90° positions and that the microswitches click reliably.
- Realign actuator: Reinstall the actuator so that its internal stops match the valve's open and closed positions.
- Replace actuator if defective: If limit switches are broken or cams are damaged, install a new Fafco-compatible actuator.
