Possible Causes
Dirty or blocked condenser/evaporator coil, Faulty condenser fan motor, Overcharged refrigerant, Blocked water flow through titanium heat exchanger causing poor heat transfer
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Switch off power at the breaker before touching the unit. Do not attempt to vent or adjust refrigerant yourself.
Steps to try:
- Check water flow: Confirm the pool pump is on and the filter is clean. Backwash or clean cartridges. Ensure bypass valves around the Fairland heater are correctly set so adequate flow passes through the titanium heat exchanger.
- Clean the coil: Inspect the large finned coil on the Fairland unit. Remove debris and gently wash with a garden hose (no high pressure). Straighten any badly bent fins with a fin comb.
- Verify fan operation: With power restored, start the unit and observe from a safe distance. The top or side fan (depending on model) should start when the compressor runs. If the fan does not run or is very slow, shut power off and call a technician.
Technician tasks:
- Test and replace the condenser fan motor or capacitor if defective.
- Check for overcharge or non-condensables in the refrigerant circuit and correct as needed.
