Display shows IGN or ignition error; heater attempts to start but shuts down quickly.

Safety First: Shut off power and gas. Allow the heater to cool before accessing the burner compartment.

• Inspect igniter: Remove and visually inspect the hot surface igniter for cracks or breaks. Replace if damaged.
• Check gas valve wiring: Ensure the gas valve coil connectors are firmly attached and not corroded.
• Bleed air (by professional): If the gas line was recently serviced, air may be present. A licensed gas technician should purge the line safely.
• Test ignition control: If the igniter and gas valve are good but ignition still fails, the ignition control module may be defective and require replacement.
