Possible Causes
Worn fan motor bearings, Bent fan blade contacting shroud, Loose fan mounting hardware, Debris caught in fan
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Turn off power and wait for the fan to stop completely before inspecting.
- Visual inspection: Look down through the top grille for sticks, leaves, or foreign objects contacting the fan blade. Remove any debris.
- Check blade alignment: Gently move the blade to ensure it is not rubbing the shroud. If bent, carefully straighten or replace the blade.
- Spin test: Rotate the blade by hand. Roughness, grinding, or side‑to‑side play indicates bad motor bearings.
- Tighten hardware: Verify that the fan blade hub is tight on the motor shaft and that motor mounting bolts are secure.
- Replace motor/blade: If noise persists due to bearing failure or blade damage, replace the fan motor and/or blade with Heat Siphon–approved parts.
