Possible Causes
Worn internal seal in vacuum relief valve, Debris lodged in valve seat, Valve installed at incorrect angle, Excessive system pressure beyond valve rating
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Turn off the pump and relieve pressure before removing or servicing the vacuum relief valve. Use caution on the roof.
- Inspect installation angle: Confirm the vacuum relief valve is installed vertically at the highest point of the array as specified by Heliocol.
- Flush debris: With the pump off, remove the valve and rinse it thoroughly with clean water to remove sand or debris from the seat area.
- Check for wear: Inspect the internal seal and spring. If the seal is cracked, hardened, or deformed, replace the valve.
- Verify system pressure: Check filter pressure and ensure it is within normal operating range. Correct any high-pressure issues that may be forcing the valve to leak.
- Reinstall and test: Reinstall the valve with appropriate thread sealant, restore flow, and confirm that the dripping has stopped.
