Possible Causes
Low refrigerant charge due to leak, Blocked or frozen evaporator coil, Faulty low-pressure switch, Restricted refrigerant capillary/expansion device
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Disconnect power before removing any covers. Do not attempt to open the refrigerant circuit yourself.
- Check ambient conditions: If outdoor temperature is very low and humidity is high, the evaporator coil may be icing excessively. Verify that the unit is not operating outside the recommended temperature range in the Hewalex manual.
- Inspect evaporator coil: Look through the grille for signs of heavy ice buildup or dirt. If iced, allow the unit to defrost by turning it off for several hours. If dirty, clean gently with water and a soft brush.
- Verify airflow: Ensure the fan is running at normal speed and that nothing blocks the air inlet or outlet. Poor airflow can cause low suction pressure.
- Restart and monitor: Restore power and clear the error. If E02 reappears quickly, there may be a refrigerant leak or a faulty low-pressure switch.
- When to call a technician: A licensed refrigeration technician should check system pressures, locate and repair any leaks, recharge the system, and test the low-pressure switch and expansion device.
