- Visual inspection: Locate the Nirvana gas valve assembly. Check for burned connectors, melted insulation, or signs of overheating.
- Check wiring: Verify that the gas valve harness is firmly connected to both the valve and the control board. Look for pinched or damaged wires.
- Coil resistance: With the valve disconnected and gas off, measure resistance across the gas valve coil terminals. Compare to Nirvana specifications. An open or shorted coil indicates a bad valve.
- Board output (pro): A technician can measure voltage at the gas valve connector during ignition to confirm the control board is sending the correct signal.
- Replace components: If the valve coil is defective, replace the gas valve with an OEM Nirvana-rated valve. If the board is not energizing a good valve, the Nirvana ignition control board may need replacement.
