Possible Causes
Weak igniter, Dirty flame sensor, Marginal gas pressure, Sticking gas valve
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Turn off power and gas before servicing ignition components.
- Observe ignition sequence: With a technician present, restore power and gas, then call for heat. Listen for the igniter and gas valve click. If the fan runs but no ignition occurs, proceed with checks.
- Inspect igniter: Remove and examine the Nirvana hot surface or spark igniter. Replace if cracked, heavily oxidized, or out of position.
- Clean flame sensor: Gently clean the Nirvana flame sensor rod with fine steel wool to improve flame detection.
- Gas supply: Have a licensed technician verify inlet and manifold gas pressure during ignition attempts.
- Gas valve function: If the valve is not opening reliably, replacement of the Nirvana gas valve assembly may be required.
