Possible Causes
Failed combustion blower motor, Blocked air intake or exhaust, Faulty air pressure switch, Loose or damaged blower wiring harness
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Turn off power and gas before servicing. Allow the heater to cool.
- Check intake and exhaust: Inspect the air intake and vent termination for leaves, plastic bags, nests, or other obstructions. Clear any debris.
- Listen for blower operation: Restore power and call for heat while observing the heater. The blower should start before ignition. If it hums, runs slowly, or does not start, turn power off and proceed.
- Inspect blower wiring: Remove the front panel and verify that the blower motor plug and wires are firmly connected and not heat-damaged.
- Test air pressure switch: The air pressure switch proves blower operation. Check tubing for cracks or blockages. With the blower running, the switch should close; if it does not, the switch may be faulty.
- Replace blower assembly if needed: If the blower does not run or is noisy and seizing, replacement of the blower motor/assembly is typically required and may be best handled by a technician.
