Possible Causes

Failed stack flue temperature sensor, Restricted exhaust vent, Excessive scale in heat exchanger causing high flue temperature, Loose or corroded sensor wiring

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety: Turn off power and gas. Allow the heater and vent to cool fully.

  • Inspect venting: Check the vent pipe for kinks, crushed sections, or obstructions. Ensure termination is clear and installed per Pentair specifications.
  • Check stack flue sensor: Locate the flue sensor on the exhaust stack. Inspect wiring and connector for corrosion or damage. Reseat the connector.
  • Test sensor resistance: With power off, disconnect the sensor and measure resistance with a multimeter. Compare to Pentair’s temperature/resistance chart. Replace the sensor if readings are out of range.
  • Consider heat exchanger condition: If the sensor is good and vent is clear but E07 persists, the heat exchanger may be scaled, causing excessive flue temperatures. This requires professional inspection and possible descaling or replacement.
