Possible Causes

Cracked heat exchanger, Failed header gasket or O-ring, Loose union on inlet/outlet, Corroded internal piping

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety: Turn off power and pump. Close isolation valves to the heater before opening the cabinet.

  • Identify leak source: Remove front and side panels and use a flashlight to trace the leak. Check unions, header, and heat exchanger connections.
  • Tighten unions and fittings: Gently tighten any loose unions on the inlet and outlet. Do not overtighten plastic fittings.
  • Inspect header gaskets: Look for water seeping at the header-to-heat-exchanger joint. Replace gaskets/O-rings if leaking.
  • Heat exchanger inspection: If water appears to come from inside the exchanger bundle or from rusted areas, the exchanger may be cracked and require replacement.
