Possible Causes
Normal condensate drainage without proper hose, Leaking Poolex titanium heat exchanger, Loose water union fittings, Cracked PVC plumbing near heater
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Turn off power before inspecting for leaks. Water near electrical parts is hazardous.
Steps:
- Determine if it's condensate: In humid weather, large amounts of clear water dripping from the evaporator area can be normal. Check if the water is cool and odorless.
- Check condensate drain: Ensure the condensate tray and drain outlet are not blocked. Attach a hose to direct water away from the base.
- Inspect unions: Examine the inlet and outlet unions on the Poolex titanium heat exchanger for drips. Tighten slightly by hand or with a strap wrench; do not overtighten.
- Check for chlorinated water: If the leak smells of chlorine and continues when the unit is off, there may be a plumbing or heat exchanger leak. Shut off water valves to the heater.
If you suspect a heat exchanger leak, contact a technician. The Poolex titanium heat exchanger may need replacement.
