Possible Causes
Blocked air intake or exhaust, Faulty air pressure switch, Disconnected or cracked pressure tubing, Failed inducer fan motor (if equipped)
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Turn OFF power and gas. Ensure the heater is cool before servicing.
- Check intake and exhaust: Inspect the combustion air intake and exhaust terminations for obstructions (leaves, insects, snow, covers). Clear any blockages and ensure proper clearances.
- Inspect pressure tubing: Locate the air pressure switch and its silicone tubing to the combustion chamber or inducer. Make sure the tubing is not cracked, kinked, or disconnected. Replace if brittle.
- Test inducer operation: Restore power and call for heat while observing the inducer fan. If it does not start, or is noisy and slow, the inducer motor may be failing.
- Check switch wiring: With power OFF, verify that the air pressure switch wires are firmly attached and not corroded.
- Retry: After clearing obstructions and securing tubing, restart the heater. If E08 persists, the air pressure switch or inducer assembly may need replacement.
Warning: Do not bypass the air pressure switch; it ensures safe venting of combustion gases.
