Possible Causes

Open or shorted gas valve coil, Loose gas valve wiring, Faulty ignition control board gas output, Blown internal fuse on control board

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety first: Turn OFF power and gas. Only qualified personnel should work on gas valve circuits.

  • Inspect wiring: Check the harness from the ignition control board to the gas valve. Ensure connectors are tight and wires are not pinched or burned.
  • Check for 24 V output: With a qualified technician and meter, verify that the control board sends the correct voltage to the gas valve during ignition. No voltage indicates a control issue.
  • Listen for valve click: During a call for heat, listen for a distinct click from the gas valve. No click may indicate a failed coil.
  • Replace components as needed: If the gas valve coil is open or shorted, replace the gas valve with a Poolworld-approved part. If the board does not energize a known-good valve, the ignition control board may need replacement.

Warning: After any gas valve work, perform a leak test with an approved leak detection solution before restoring service.
