Localized Overheating in Spa Mode
Heater frequently shuts off on high limit when spa is in use with low water level
Advertisements
Possible Causes
Insufficient spa water level, Jets diverting flow away from heater return, Air entrainment from spa jets, Oversized heater for small spa volume
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Ensure spa users are clear before adjusting valves or equipment.
- Maintain water level: Keep spa water level above all suction and return fittings to prevent air ingestion.
- Adjust valves: Set valves so that adequate flow passes through the heater when in spa mode, even with jets on.
- Reduce heater output: If possible, lower the set temperature slightly to reduce cycling.
- Monitor operation: Observe the heater and spa during use to ensure stable flow and temperature.
Note: Very small spas with large heaters may require careful flow management to avoid rapid overheating.
