Possible Causes
Restricted air intake or exhaust, Incorrect gas pressure, Dirty or misaligned burners, Wrong orifices for gas type (natural vs LP)
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Turn OFF power and gas immediately. Do not continue to operate a sooting heater.
- Check venting and intake: Ensure the exhaust vent and combustion air intake are clear and properly installed per Poolworld specifications.
- Inspect burners: Remove and clean burners with a soft brush. Ensure all ports are open and burners are seated correctly.
- Verify gas type: Confirm the heater is configured and orificed for the correct gas type (natural gas or propane). Using the wrong orifices is hazardous.
- Have combustion tested: A qualified technician should check gas pressure and perform a combustion analysis to adjust or correct issues.
Warning: Sooting can lead to carbon monoxide production. Do not use the heater until the problem is resolved.
