Possible Causes
Localized flame rollout near primary burner area, Tripped or failed primary rollout switch, Blocked burner orifice near switch location, Improper combustion air supply
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Rollout conditions are dangerous. Turn off gas and power immediately. Allow the heater to cool fully.
Steps to address ROL1 error:
- Locate primary rollout switch: Find the rollout switch labeled or wired as the primary circuit. Check if it has a manual reset button and reset if tripped.
- Inspect burner area: Remove burner tray access and look for signs of flame impingement, discoloration, or melted components near the switch.
- Clean burners: Remove and clean affected burners and orifices. Clear spider webs, rust, or debris that may be redirecting flame.
- Check combustion air: Ensure the heater has adequate clearance and is not installed in a confined space without proper ventilation.
- Replace switch if defective: If the switch will not reset or tests open at room temperature, replace it with the correct Raypak rollout switch.
Warning: Do not operate the heater until the cause of rollout is fully corrected.
