Possible Causes
Blocked air openings on cabinet, Heater installed too close to walls or other equipment, Internal fan not operating (if equipped), Excessive flue gas recirculation
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Turn off power and gas. Allow heater to cool before touching cabinet surfaces.
Steps to address overheating cabinet:
- Check clearances: Measure distances to walls and objects. Adjust installation to meet Raypak’s minimum clearance requirements.
- Clean louvers: Remove debris, leaves, or dirt from cabinet louvers and grilles to restore airflow.
- Check internal fan (if present): Confirm any cabinet cooling fan runs when the heater is operating. Replace if failed.
- Inspect vent termination: Ensure exhaust gases are not being blown back onto the heater by wind or nearby structures. Adjust vent termination if necessary.
Note: Excessive cabinet temperatures can shorten component life and should be corrected.
