Possible Causes
Thermostat set below water temperature, External automation not calling for heat, Open safety switch (pressure, high limit, rollout), Loose safety circuit wiring
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Turn off power before handling internal wiring.
Steps to troubleshoot no‑fire with live display:
- Verify setpoint: Raise the set temperature 5–10°F above current water temperature. Confirm the heater is in the correct mode (POOL or SPA) and not OFF.
- Bypass automation (if present): Temporarily disconnect remote/automation wires from the heater’s remote terminals and set the heater to local control per the manual.
- Check safety string: Locate the series circuit of pressure switch, high limits, rollout switches, and other safeties. With power OFF, inspect each for loose or corroded connections.
- Continuity test: With power OFF, test continuity through the safety chain. An open device will prevent the heater from starting. Replace the faulty switch (pressure, high limit, rollout, etc.).
Note: Never permanently jumper safety devices; use jumpers only briefly for diagnosis if you are qualified, and always restore proper wiring.
