Possible Causes
Low gas pressure at SmartPool gas valve, Partially blocked burner orifices, Faulty gas valve coil, Unstable flame due to improper combustion air
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety warning: Gas work can be hazardous. Do not adjust gas supply pressure yourself. Shut off power and gas before opening the heater.
- Check gas supply: Confirm that the gas shutoff valve to the SmartPool heater is fully open. Make sure other gas appliances are not starving the line when they run.
- Inspect burner area: Remove the front panel and visually inspect the burner tray for rust flakes, spider webs, or debris. Vacuum gently around burners and orifices without disturbing wiring.
- Check venting and airflow: Ensure the heater exhaust is not blocked and that intake louvers on the cabinet are clear of leaves, plastic, or dirt. Restricted airflow can destabilize the flame.
- Observe ignition (if safe): With the panel temporarily off and gas/power restored, call for heat and watch the flame through the sight glass. If the flame is weak, lifting, or blowing out, shut down and call a technician to check gas pressure and combustion setup.
- Do not bypass safeties: Never jumper flame sensor or gas valve circuits to force operation. This is extremely dangerous.
