SPFZ
SmartPool
Freeze protection mode active
Display shows SPFZ; heater runs pump for freeze protection but will not heat

Possible Causes
Low ambient temperature detected by SmartPool freeze sensor, Freeze sensor out of calibration, Incorrect freeze setpoint
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Information: SPFZ indicates the heater is protecting plumbing from freezing, not a combustion fault.
- Check ambient conditions: If outdoor temperature is near or below freezing, this is normal. The heater may be locked out from heating to protect itself.
- Verify sensor: If SPFZ appears in warm weather, inspect the freeze sensor wiring and location. It should not be in direct contact with cold metal or evaporative cooling sources.
- Settings: Review the SmartPool installer menu (if accessible) for freeze protection setpoints and adjust only per the manual.
