Possible Causes
Manual gas valve closed, Gas line undersized for SmartPool heater BTU rating, Regulator failure, Air in gas line after service
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Gas safety: If you smell gas continuously, shut off the gas supply and call your gas utility or a licensed technician immediately.
- Verify gas valve: Ensure the external gas shutoff valve to the SmartPool heater is fully open (handle parallel to the pipe).
- Check other gas appliances: See if other gas appliances (stove, furnace) are working. If not, there may be a supply issue.
- Recent work: If gas piping was recently serviced, air may be in the line. Several ignition attempts may be needed, but do not repeatedly reset if SPGAS persists.
- Do not adjust regulator: Gas pressure and regulator settings must be checked by a licensed gas technician using proper instruments.
