Possible Causes
Thermostat set too high, Low water flow through SmartPool heat exchanger, Faulty outlet temperature sensor, Internal scale buildup
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Burn hazard: Outlet plumbing may be very hot. Allow the system to cool before touching any pipes.
- Check setpoint: Verify the SmartPool heater temperature is set to a safe level (typically 78–104°F depending on pool/spa use).
- Verify flow: Ensure pump is running at the recommended speed and that filters and strainers are clean.
- Inspect outlet sensor: With power off, locate the outlet water temperature sensor on the SmartPool header. Check for secure connection and no visible damage.
- Restart: After cooling, restore power and call for heat. If SPHI recurs quickly, schedule service to check for scale and sensor calibration.
