Possible Causes
Pump not running or losing prime, SmartPool pump interlock wiring open, Faulty flow switch or relay on control board
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Note: The heater must only run when the circulation pump is on.
- Confirm pump operation: Make sure the pool pump is actually moving water (check returns for flow and pump basket for water level).
- Check interlock wiring: If your SmartPool heater is wired to a pump relay or automation, verify those low-voltage wires are intact and firmly connected at the heater's control terminals.
- Inspect flow switch: Some models use a dedicated flow switch for pump status. Check its wiring and body for damage.
- Test after restoring flow: Once you are sure the pump is running properly, reset the heater. If SPLOP persists, the interlock circuit or control board may need service.
