Corrosion from chronic moisture exposure
Heater cabinet shows rust streaks and corrosion around the base
Advertisements
Possible Causes
Persistent internal water leak, Poor drainage under SmartPool heater, Exhaust condensation dripping on cabinet, Chemical fumes from stored pool chemicals
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Structural note: Surface rust can be treated, but ongoing moisture must be corrected.
- Inspect for leaks: Check inside the cabinet for any water leaks from plumbing or the heat exchanger.
- Improve drainage: Ensure the heater pad slopes away from the unit and that rainwater does not pool around the base.
- Relocate chemicals: Do not store chlorine or acid containers near the SmartPool heater; fumes accelerate corrosion.
- Treat rust: Lightly sand affected areas and apply a rust-inhibiting primer and paint rated for outdoor metal.
