Possible Causes
Heavy scale buildup inside SmartPool copper or cupronickel tubes, Low water flow through heater, Air pockets trapped in heat exchanger
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Warning: Severe kettling can damage the heat exchanger. Do not ignore loud banging.
- Improve flow: Clean the filter, open all valves fully, and increase pump speed to ensure strong flow through the heater.
- Bleed air: If your SmartPool heater has an air bleed valve on the header, open it slightly with the pump running to release trapped air until water flows steadily.
- Descaling: Long-term kettling usually requires professional chemical descaling of the SmartPool heat exchanger. Schedule service if noise persists.
