Possible Causes

Gas supply pressure too low, Partially blocked SmartPool heat exchanger, Bypass valve misadjusted, Oversized pool volume for heater capacity

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Note: Underheating can be hydraulic, gas, or sizing related.

  • Verify run time: Ensure the heater has been running continuously for several hours; large pools can take a full day or more to heat.
  • Check bypass and valves: Confirm that water is actually flowing through the SmartPool heater and not bypassing it. Adjust any manual bypass valves per the installation manual.
  • Filter and flow: Clean the filter and ensure strong flow from return jets. Very high flow can also reduce heat transfer; follow SmartPool's recommended flow range.
  • Gas supply: If other gas appliances struggle or flames look weak, have a gas technician check line sizing and pressure to the heater.
