Possible Causes
Low water flow through SmartPool heater, Missing or failed internal bypass, Heater firing with pump off due to wiring error, Outlet temperature sensor not reading correctly
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Burn and leak risk: Overheated PVC can fail suddenly.
- Shut down: Turn off the heater and allow plumbing to cool.
- Verify interlock: Ensure the heater cannot run unless the pump is on. Correct any wiring that bypasses the pump interlock.
- Check flow: Clean filters, open valves, and verify strong flow at returns.
- Inspect outlet sensor: Confirm the SmartPool outlet temperature sensor is properly installed and connected.
- Replace damaged PVC: Any visibly warped or browned PVC should be replaced with high-temp rated fittings.
