Possible Causes
Cracked SmartPool heat exchanger, Loose union or header gasket, Condensate misidentified as leak, Freeze damage to internal piping
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Water and electrical safety: Turn off power before working around water inside the heater.
- Identify source: Remove the front panel and look for active drips while the pump is running. Check unions, header plugs, and the heat exchanger body.
- Differentiate condensate: In cool, humid weather, some condensate is normal. Clear water dripping only when heating and from a drain tube may be condensate.
- Tighten unions: Gently snug any loose PVC unions on the SmartPool header by hand; do not overtighten.
- Freeze damage: If you see cracks in the header or exchanger, shut down and call a technician. Do not operate with a known leak.
