Possible Causes
Defective defrost temperature sensor, Sensor not properly attached to coil, Faulty defrost control logic on main PCB, Ice buildup preventing accurate sensing
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Turn off power before accessing sensors or coils.
- Inspect for ice: Check the evaporator coil and base pan for heavy ice accumulation. If present, turn the unit off and allow it to fully defrost.
- Locate defrost sensor: Find the sensor clipped to the coil or refrigerant line used for defrost control. Ensure it is firmly attached and in good contact.
- Check wiring: Inspect the sensor cable and connector at the main PCB for damage or loose fit.
- Restart: After defrosting and checking connections, restore power and clear the E14 code. Monitor the next defrost cycle.
- Replace sensor/board: If E14 recurs and the coil is not excessively iced, the defrost sensor or control board may need replacement by a technician.
