Possible Causes
Loose union connections on inlet/outlet, Cracked PVC fittings due to freezing, Leaking titanium heat exchanger, Condensate mistaken for leak
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Turn off power and close water isolation valves before working on plumbing. Be aware of hot water.
- Identify source: Dry the area and observe where water first appears. Distinguish between clear condensate dripping from coil and continuous water from a fitting.
- Check unions: Tighten the plastic or PVC unions on the inlet and outlet using hand pressure plus a small additional turn; do not overtighten and crack them.
- Inspect for freeze damage: Look for splits in PVC pipes or fittings, especially after freezing weather. Replace damaged sections.
- Condensate vs leak: In humid weather, large amounts of condensate are normal. Ensure the condensate drain holes are clear so water can exit properly.
- Heat exchanger leak: If water is seeping from inside the cabinet or from the heat exchanger body, shut off water and contact a technician; the titanium heat exchanger may need replacement.
