Possible Causes
Failed combustion blower motor, Faulty air pressure switch, Blocked air intake or exhaust
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Turn off power and gas. Moving blower parts and live wiring can cause injury.
- Check air intake and exhaust: Inspect the blower intake screen and exhaust outlet for debris, nests, or obstructions. Clear any blockage.
- Listen for blower operation: On a call for heat, the blower should start before ignition. If it does not, check for 120/240V at the blower motor terminals (qualified persons only).
- Inspect air pressure switch: Locate the air pressure switch connected to the blower housing via tubing. Check tubing for cracks, kinks, or water. Ensure the switch wiring is secure.
- Test pressure switch: With a multimeter, verify that the switch closes when the blower runs. If it does not close, replace the Sta-Rite air pressure switch.
- Replace blower if seized: If the blower hums, is noisy, or will not spin freely by hand, replace the Sta-Rite combustion blower assembly.
