Possible Causes
Incorrect wiring from pool automation, Shorted remote thermostat terminals, Faulty external control board
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Turn off power before working on low-voltage wiring. Do not short thermostat terminals intentionally.
- Check mode of operation: Confirm whether the Sta-Rite heater is set to local control or remote/automation mode per the user interface.
- Inspect remote wiring: Open the low-voltage wiring compartment and verify that the remote thermostat or automation wires are correctly landed on the designated Sta-Rite terminals.
- Test without automation: Temporarily disconnect the external control wires and configure the heater for standalone operation. If E10 clears and the heater runs, the issue is with the automation system or wiring.
- Check for shorts: Use a multimeter to check for shorts between thermostat wires and ground. Repair or replace damaged cable.
- Consult automation manual: Ensure the external controller is configured for the correct heater model and communication protocol.
