Possible Causes
Loose line voltage connections, Failing transformer, Undersized breaker or shared circuit, Corroded ground connection
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Turn off power at the breaker before opening the electrical junction box. Only qualified persons should test live voltage.
- Inspect power connections: Open the Sta-Rite heater's electrical compartment and check that line (L1/L2) and ground wires are tight and free of corrosion.
- Check breaker and wiring size: Confirm that the circuit breaker and wire gauge meet Sta-Rite requirements for the heater's voltage and amperage.
- Test transformer output: With power on (qualified technician only), measure the low-voltage transformer output feeding the control board. Compare to nameplate rating.
- Look for water intrusion: Any signs of moisture in the electrical compartment must be addressed by sealing conduit entries and replacing affected components.
- Replace transformer if needed: If primary voltage is correct but secondary is low or unstable, replace the Sta-Rite control transformer.
