Possible Causes
Wind affecting burner flame, Misaligned burner tray, Partially blocked burner orifices, Weak flame signal from sensor
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Turn off gas and power before removing burner access panels.
- Inspect installation location: Check that the Sta-Rite heater has proper clearances and is not installed in a wind tunnel or confined alcove. Consider adding a wind shield if allowed by the manufacturer.
- Check burner alignment: Remove the burner tray and ensure all burners are seated correctly and aligned with the orifices.
- Clean burners and orifices: Use compressed air and a soft brush to remove dust, rust, and spider webs. Do not use wire that could enlarge orifices.
- Clean flame sensor: Gently polish the flame sensor rod to improve flame signal strength.
- Reassemble and test: Reinstall burner tray, restore gas and power, and observe ignition and flame stability through the inspection port.
