Possible Causes
Severe scale buildup in heat exchanger, Low water flow, Air pockets in heater, Faulty internal bypass
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Turn off power and allow the heater to cool. Do not continue operating a noisy heater; damage can occur.
- Check flow: Ensure the pump is running at full speed and the filter is clean. Verify all valves to and from the Sta-Rite heater are fully open.
- Bleed air: Open any manual air relief valves on the filter or heater manifold to remove trapped air.
- Inspect bypass: A failed internal bypass can cause uneven flow and localized boiling. Replace the Sta-Rite internal bypass valve if worn or stuck.
- Descale exchanger: Have a professional chemically descale the Sta-Rite heat exchanger to remove mineral deposits causing hot spots.
