Sta-Rite
Flow-Dependent Shutdown
Heater shuts down when pump speed is reduced on a variable-speed pump
Advertisements
Possible Causes
Pressure switch set too high, Inadequate flow at low pump speeds, Dirty filter, Incorrect plumbing bypass
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Turn off power before adjusting the pressure switch. Do not defeat safety devices.
- Increase pump speed: Program the variable-speed pump to run at a higher RPM when the Sta-Rite heater is calling for heat.
- Clean filter: Backwash or clean the filter to reduce system resistance and improve flow.
- Check bypass plumbing: Ensure any external bypass is not diverting too much flow away from the heater.
- Adjust pressure switch: If allowed by Sta-Rite, slightly adjust the water pressure switch to close at a lower pressure, following the service manual. Do not adjust beyond recommended limits.
