Possible Causes
Incorrect pool/spa sensor placement, Miswired mode valve actuators, Control board configuration error, Faulty mode sensor
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Turn off power before working on valve actuators or sensors.
- Verify sensor locations: Ensure the Pool Temperature Sensor is installed in the pool return line and the Spa Temperature Sensor in the spa return line, as per SunHeater instructions.
- Check actuator wiring: Confirm that pool/spa valve actuators are wired to the correct terminals on the automation system or SunHeater control.
- Test sensors individually: Disconnect each sensor and measure resistance. Compare to the temperature/resistance chart. Replace any sensor that is open, shorted, or out of range.
- Reconfigure control: Enter the installer menu (see manual) and verify that the system is set for the correct number of bodies of water (pool only vs pool+spa) and that sensors are assigned correctly.
- Test mode switching: After corrections, switch between pool and spa modes and confirm that valves move correctly and temperatures read accurately.
