Heater makes loud banging or popping noises during operation

Safety: Turn off power and gas immediately if you hear loud bangs. Do not continue to operate the heater until inspected.

• Inspect burners: Remove the burner tray and clean all burner ports with compressed air. Ensure no rust flakes or debris are blocking the ports.
• Check igniter position: Verify that the Hot Surface Igniter is positioned correctly relative to the burner as per the SunHeater manual. Adjust mounting if necessary.
• Clear air intake: Make sure the combustion air intake is not blocked by leaves, mulch, or snow.
• Have gas pressure checked: A licensed gas technician should measure and adjust inlet and manifold pressure to the values specified on the SunHeater rating plate.

If banging persists after cleaning and adjustment, discontinue use and schedule professional service to prevent damage or unsafe operation.
